Food for the Next Frontier.

We are thrilled to announce the Deep Space Food Challenge, a first of its kind initiative in coordination with the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA), and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), and administered by the Methuselah Foundation. Our mission? Good food for healthier, happier explorers of space and Earth.

Food systems on Earth exist that may benefit space explorers, but their ability to meet the rigorous demands of spaceflight are not yet established. Future crew members need nutritious foods they can enjoy eating and feel closer to home.

On Earth, food insecurity continues to ravage urban, rural, and harsh environments. Food production is critical to sustaining healthy human life, everywhere––and there is massive need for innovation on this front.

We invite science teams to design novel food technologies and systems that produce nutritious, delicious food to support human health for long duration space missions and even longer duration life on Earth. Find out more below and join our food innovation movement!
